Groundhog Landscaping & Lawn Care, Inc. (GHL) is a family-owned, full-service Buffalo NY landscaping company headquartered at 9210 County Rd, Clarence Center, NY 14032. Founded in 2000 by Robert Miller, we have spent more than 25 years building outdoor spaces for homeowners and commercial property managers across Western New York — from intricate paver patios and Belgard retaining walls in Williamsville to weekly lawn maintenance in Amherst and 24-hour snow plowing routes across Clarence and Lancaster.
Every GHL project starts with the same goal stated in our company slogan: “Preparing you for Company!” That means we design, install, and maintain outdoor environments that look ready for guests every day of the year, not just on the day we finish. Our crews are organised into specialised teams — design and build, lawn maintenance, hardscape, concrete, and winter operations — so each service line is led by people who do that work full time.
Because Buffalo’s climate runs from heavy lake-effect snow in January to a fully green growing season from April through October, most of our clients work with us on a year-round program rather than a one-off service. That continuity means the same crew that mulches your beds in May is the one that plows your driveway in February — we already know your property, your irrigation heads, your pet’s favorite path through the garden, and where your gas line crosses the lawn.
Landscape design and installation, Belgard paver patios and retaining walls, low-voltage landscape lighting, paver pool decks and poolscapes, built-in grills, outdoor kitchens and fireplaces, and specialty stamped and decorative concrete.
Weekly lawn care and mowing April through October, spring cleanups, summer mid-season services, fall cleanups, deer protection, leaf removal, mulch refresh, bed weeding, and shrub pruning.
Driveway snowplowing, commercial lot clearing, salting, ice management, and seasonal décor setup — running from November 1 through April 1 each winter for residential and commercial accounts in the Clarence and Amherst corridor.
From our Clarence Center base, GHL crews routinely service Buffalo, Clarence, Clarence Center, Amherst, East Amherst, Williamsville, Getzville, Snyder, Cheektowaga, Lancaster, Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, North Buffalo, Akron, Alden, Elma, Hamburg, and Orchard Park. We are based far enough east that we can hit Akron and Alden quickly, and close enough to the city that we serve Snyder, North Buffalo, and the entire Amherst/Williamsville corridor without scheduling premiums.
The fastest way to book a free estimate is to call (716) 741-8428 during business hours or submit the form on our contact page. For design-build projects (patios, walls, poolscapes, outdoor kitchens) we recommend reaching out in late winter or early spring so your project can be sequenced into the upcoming season’s build calendar. For snow plowing, sign-ups happen August through October each year.

We are a year-round outdoor services company. Our core services are landscape design and installation, weekly lawn care, paver patios and walkways, segmental retaining walls, landscape lighting, poolscapes, built-in grills and outdoor fireplaces, specialty stamped and decorative concrete, spring and fall cleanups, summer maintenance, and snow plowing and ice removal from November through April.
GHL was founded in 2000 by Robert Miller, who started the company out of his parents’ garage in Buffalo, NY while working his way through college. The company is now in its 25th+ year of continuous operation and is still family-owned.
Both. About half of our business is residential — private homes, estates, and custom design-build projects — and about half is commercial: office complexes, multi-tenant properties, HOAs, and small business sites that need recurring maintenance and winter snow service.
Yes. Groundhog Landscaping is a fully insured New York State contractor carrying general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. We carry the certifications required by most Erie County commercial property managers, and our paver and wall crews hold ICPI and Belgard Authorized Contractor credentials.
Call (716) 741-8428 Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM, email info@groundhoglandscaping.com, or submit the form on our contact page. For design-build hardscape projects we’ll schedule an on-site walk-through; for routine maintenance and snow plowing many estimates can be quoted from satellite measurements.
Snow plowing contracts begin August and fill up by mid-October. Buffalo’s lake-effect season can start by early November, so we strongly recommend signing up before October 15 to guarantee a route slot for the upcoming winter.
Both. Hardscape installations (patios, walls, outdoor kitchens, lighting, concrete) are project-based. Lawn care, spring and fall cleanups, and snow plowing are seasonal contracts. One-off cleanups and emergency snow service are available subject to crew availability.
